An Interaction Programme on “Global Change in the Context of Nepal”

Event Date : 2018-12-12

On 12 December 2018, we had invited Dr. Uttam Babu Shrestha, Research Fellow, Institute of Life Sciences and the Environment at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia for an interaction programme on “Global Change in the Context of Nepal”.  The program started with a welcome note by Ms. Varsha Rai, EGH Coordinator and brief introduction of our speaker.

Dr. Shrestha started with a quotation by Jane Goodall, “Humans are destroying their homes themselves” and said that we, humans have introduced today’s global change. He interacted with our participants on his completed and ongoing researches on evidence of climate change, perception on climate change among people, impacts of climate change on local ecosystems, and likely impacts on native and invasive species. He also talked on forest change, intervention of community forestry in terms of climate change and the trend in change in green city spaces in Nepal. The programme was an interactive one and had a wonderful participation of individuals from different academic and non-academic institutions.

The programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Dinesh Raj Bhuju, General Secretary, Resources Himalaya Foundation.
