PRALAD YONZON CONSERVATION FORUM – 63

For the 63rd series of PYCF, we had invited Dr Man Kumar Dhamala, Assistant Professor in Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuwan University. The program started with the welcome note and brief introduction of speaker by Ms Binita Pandey, EGH coordinator. Dr Dhamala had his presentation on title “Plants, People and Practices in Nepal Himalaya”. He started his presentation describing the medicinal practices of valuable ethnobotanical plants by people and also further emphasized on detrimental act of non-indigenous practices to the plants of Nepal Himalayas. Additionally, he enumerated the distribution pattern of species in Himalayas with endemic species peaks at 4000m whereas total species richness being highest between 1500m and 2500m. Lastly, he made an urge to redefine development with the engagement of youth in knowledge generation and dissemination.

Dr Kamal Adhikari, RHF Director appreciated 20 trainees of GIS training organized on 15 May to 23 May 2017 with certificates. Furthermore, on behalf of RHF, Dr. Dinesh Bhuju, General Secretary of RHF, bid farewell to former EGH coordinator, Ms Rasmi Kunwar further welcoming her as RHF Program Officer and also welcomed new EGH coordinator, Ms Binita Pandey. This was followed by vote of thanks along with handing a piece of love to our guest speaker.
